About the Role

USPS is looking for reliable people to work as a Mail Delivery Driver in flexible hours.

As a mail handler, you're responsible for ensuring that mail and packages are moving smoothly, arranging mail for delivery, driving an assigned route, and guaranteeing that every piece of mail goes to the proper person.

This role is ideal for individuals who like to work independently, be active, and have a daily itinerary.

While much of your work is done independently, you will be working with a team of more people who will require effective communication, punctuality, and attention to detail with each delivery.

What You Will Do

You might start your day sorting letters and packages in order for delivery and then loading them into a postal vehicle.

Once the route is set up, you will make routine stops, pick up packages, get mail out, and note out-of-reach deliveries.
• Classify letters, parcels, and other mail items by the route assigned.
• Load the delivery vehicle in a safe and organized manner.

• Drive safely in compliance with traffic rules and USPS safety guidelines.

• Provide postage and parcels to appropriate addresses.

• Scan items using handheld equipment and record delivery information.

• Pick up outgoing mail from designated pick-up locations.

• Ensure that for accountable or restricted deliveries, signatures are obtained as per the requirement.

Adhere to procedures for damaged/cancelled/undeliverable goods
Secure mail, packages, vehicle keys and customer information.
Provide and respond to simple customer queries courteously and professionally
Check the assigned car and note down any issues with maintenance or safety
Support with other delivery responsibilities as workload and staffing requirements vary

Training and specific instructions will vary depending on the position that you are chosen for.

Flexible Work Schedule

Physical Requirements

Drivers can be in the car for a long time and get in and out numerous times during a shift.
